Do I need a website?

Posted: 16 Jul 09 at 20:07 How much would it cost for you to put up a banner in your local town? Even if your company is in the financial position to market themselves with physical advertisement, how are people going to remember your name and number from it?

Not to say that there is anything wrong with advertising yourself to consumers in the outside world but it will only work well if you have an easy to remember website for people to go and find out more (including a place where all the information they need will always be there when they need it).

Anyone who uses the internet will use a search engine to find what they're looking for. Your company may be known locally by word of mouth or media campaigning as the best business around for that industry, yet if another company has got themselves known on the internet as the top search result for that line of business where will all of your business go?

A website is a brilliant tool to bring in users. Make it easy for them to navigate and find the exact information that they want. Have very simple systems on your website for them to interact with - they don't get too confused and their attention is kept.

What else can you do with a website that you can't do with posters, postcards and banners? You can track visitors to your website, know where they went and what they looked at - get a better idea of what has been interesting to your customers and build on that.

The internet is a cost effective way of marketing your business. Depending on the company you use to develop your website, obviously. It should be used.
